How does the illustration process work?
We begin with a friendly chat about your story, characters and vision. Then I create character sketches and a page-by-page storyboard for your approval, followed by full-colour illustrations — with revision rounds at each stage so the art always matches your imagination. Finally, you receive polished, print-ready files, delivered on schedule.
How long does it take to illustrate a children’s book?
A typical 24–32 page picture book takes around 4–8 weeks from approved sketches to final art, depending on complexity and my current schedule. Cover design and animation projects vary — I’ll always give you an honest timeline with your personalised quote.
How many revision rounds are included?
Every project includes structured revision rounds at the sketch stage and again at the colour stage. This means you shape the artwork while it’s still easy to adjust — no surprises at the end. If you’d like extra rounds beyond that, we can simply add them to your quote.
What file formats will I receive?
You’ll receive high-resolution, print-ready files — usually PDF and TIFF or JPEG at 300 DPI with bleed — plus web-friendly PNG or JPEG versions for online use. Animation projects are delivered as HD or 4K video files, ready for YouTube or broadcast.
How is pricing calculated?
Pricing depends on the illustration style, number of pages, level of detail, character design needs, cover design and revision rounds. Because every book is different, each project receives a personalised, no-obligation quote. Visit our Price page to see exactly what shapes the cost.
Do I own the rights to the illustrations?
Yes. Once your final invoice is paid, you receive full commercial rights to the finished artwork — publish, print and sell your book freely, anywhere in the world. I may show the work in my portfolio unless you’d prefer I didn’t; just let me know.
How do we communicate during the project?
By email, with clear updates at every milestone: character sketches, storyboards, colour drafts and finals. I’m friendly, organised and usually reply within 24 hours. For larger projects, we can also arrange video calls to talk things through.
Can you match an existing art style?
If there’s a style you love, share your references with me and I’ll tell you honestly how closely I can echo it while keeping the artwork original and consistent across your whole book. I never copy another artist’s work directly — your illustrations will always be uniquely yours.
What do you need from me to get started?
Your manuscript (a polished draft is lovely, but a rough one is fine too), the number of pages you’re aiming for, any character ideas or reference images, and your ideal timeline. Don’t worry if everything isn’t final — we’ll shape the details together.
Do you also prepare books for publishing?
Yes. I can prepare print-ready interiors and covers with correct bleed, trim and spine sizing for Amazon KDP, IngramSpark and other platforms — so your files are ready to upload the moment the art is approved.
